Medically Necessary Care Bill, S.2744a,

in the State of New York

Presently, insurance companies can define what is medically necessary as they
want to, and you agree with them when you sign up. The Medically Necessary
Care Bill will provide that the law determines what is medically necessary,
taking that away from insurance companies who have, up to now, been able to
do this, and therefore, keep you from getting care.   It will also help Lyme
patients to get their necessary treatments.

For a patient making a complaint about an insurance company, the onus will
now be on the insurance company to prove that something is not medically
necessary
