- Borrelia are recognized by monocytic cells,
- which produce the B-cell–attracting chemokine CXCL13.
- B cells immigrate into the CSF
- and mature to plasma cells.
- These plasma cells can produce Bb-specific antibodies
- that can eventually destroy the invaded spirochetes.
